EZPZ Homemade Hummus!

I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with myself! I just made my first batch of homemade hummus!

It’s so simple and only takes minutes to make with its few ingredients.

Nutritionally, hummus is so very good for us in regards to a simple way to get some protein in our snack options. I eat it almost daily with rice crackers.

HUMMUS RECIPE

Tools: You’ll need a food processor.

I have a small food processor, so I  halved this recipe and have plenty for a few days. Makes just over the ounces of garbonzo beans you use. So, 8 oz. of beans = 8 oz. of processed beans, plus a little more due to other ingredients. If you’re single, like me, 1/2 of this recipe is enough for a few days of snacking.

1 16 oz. can garbanzo beans (you can soak garbanzo beans overnight too, but buying a can ready to go is nice and easy)

1/4 cup olive oil

1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

1 Tsp cumin (to taste)

Salt to taste

OPTIONAL

Garlic: Can add minced garlic to taste.

Roasted Red Peppers: Buy a can and add 1/2 – 3/4 cup to taste.

STORING

Refrigerate: It will be good for about 3-6 days. Do not store in plastic as it can leach toxins into your lovely fresh hummus. Store in a glass, lidded container in the frig and dive in with rice crackers any time you need a protein boost!

Enjoy!
