    Hi Kim,

I too have hashimotos and part of my thyroid removed. I’m living in Surrey, United Kingdom. Is your Manual relevant to UK meds?

    • kim

Yes, my manual info and diet are great for anyone, anywhere. I have customers from all over the globe using it and getting great results from using the diet and forms w/ their healthcare practitioners.

  • Christine

I have many of the symptoms that point to Thyroid problems. I have begun taking seaweed supps along with a greens powder from HealthForce Nutritionals, which has kelp, dulse, nori and some other nutrients in them. In your opinion will these help or do you recommend adding other sources for the problem.
    Thanks

  • Gary

  • Hello Kim,
I recently did a really really stupid thing. I stopped taking my thyroid meds, wanting to do something more natural but not having anything in place to replace it. Now, after two and a half months my body is totally wigging out, my heart is fluttering every night and now in the day, I feel foggy and sometimes depressed, unmotivated. What did I do to myself! I have since started taking again after my husband went to see our doctor and mentioned to him what I did, he was very upset.I just hope I didn’t do any permanent damage. I would love to know your thoughts about the pros and cons of stopping my thyroid medication and if I should watch out for anything that could be life threatening. I am very scared that I hurt my body beyond fixing! Please help….

    Thank you,
    Blessings
    Juliette

My wife was diagnosed with low blood sugar years ago, but she also shows all of the signs of a thyroid & adrenal gland problem. She is always freezing when no one else is even cold, she is always tired, her hair is dry & brittle to the point of falling out, her skin is dry, odd weight gain, and that does not include her low blood sugar symptoms. Her primary doctor did a simple blood test and told her that her thyroid is fine, I’m sorry but I just don’t believe it. What do we need to do to have her thoroughly tested for both thyroid and adrenal issues? Are there specialist that deal with the thyroid? thank you so much!

  • Jennie

I just saw your video on YouTube. You mentioned that you had half your thyroid removed because they found a lump on your throat. Well I also have the same problem except that I have three nodules that needs to be removed. I got a biopsy done and it came back negative but the doctor told me that sometimes those needles can miss. I try not to think about it so I don’t have to worry myself. However, the doctor recommended that I get them removed because one of the nodule measures 2.9 cm so it is required to get them removed by an ENT doctor. I am 52 years old. I probably had those nodules for years and didn’t even know it. I think my mother had the same problem because she would always say that she felt a lump in her throat but she never went to get checked by a doctor.

Once I turned 50, I started feeling worst, my skin is dried and so are my lips, I can’t sleep at night, my heart beats fast and when I wake up, I feel like I have a cold with mucus in my throat. The Ent doctor wants to see me in December. He already told me to remove them. I am worried about the scare and recovery after surgery. I am glad that I came across your video. I read everyones comments on your website. Thank you for putting out this video. It was very helpful.

    • kim

I wish I could tell you whether to have them out or not. But I can’t. 🙁

I would however suggest your seeing a trained thyroid practitioner for a second opinion. Plus, your ENT will probably just give you thyroid replacement pills and send you on your way. You’re going to need much more than that if they damage or remove your thyroid, 1/2 or whole. You’re also having thyroid symptoms, so you need to be treated for that anyway already.

See my http://thyroidu.com/faq/ page for more ideas before your health really starts deminishing.

My thoughts of health are with you.

Health and wellness should always be our priority since it is very costly if we get sick. Medical bills these days are quite enormous.

  • First i want to say thank you for putting together wonderful information. I never knew about this disorder tell today. Latley my skin start flaking extremely bad along with my hair. Gained 30 pounds in 3 months, Hair loss ect. I went to my doctor today and told him about my skin he said lets do a blood test you might have a thyroid disorder. I didnt think it was nothing. Went home looked up all the symptoms and signs. I have 98% of all of them through out my life i pointed them all, just though i was going through steps in my life. Im only 23 years old. im tired depressed, sleepy ect. I thought i was just lazy. Ive been working out eating more healthier for the last year and gained 30 thinking it was just muscle weight. Im 98% positive i will have it. Question, when i start taking the pills will i start losing weight, gaining hair growth it self or do i need to take extra pills for my hair? I will still keep working out and eating better will i start seeing a big change in my weight? How long will the treatment kick in? Thank u for your time

    • kim

      Hi Jayne,

No, you’re not lazy. You’re sick. I’m so sorry that you have such a full blown case of thyroid disorder at your age.

      You asked:
When i start taking the pills will i start losing weight, gaining hair growth it self or do i need to take extra pills for my hair? I will still keep working out and eating better will i start seeing a big change in my weight? How long will the treatment kick in?

      Answer:
Just taking thyroid medication “pills” won’t help you that much in the weight or hair loss areas. Your thyroid and body health have taken a big hit that needs rebuilding. I don’t know exactly you’re eating now, but you’ll need to eat a thyroid clean diet and take high quality supplements to restore your hair growth. I use Evening Primrose Oil, 2,000 mg/day which has helped in conjunction with other supplements from my practitioner.

I highly recommend getting my Get Your Life Back! Thyroid Manual which has the diet – http://thyroidu.com/bookstoreresources/

Plus, please check my PRACTITIONERS list http://thyroidu.com/practitioners/ and get another opinion from a Thyroid Trained Practitioner who can also recommend supplements.

  • kim

    Hi Jackie,

    Question from you…
My hair is falling out, and thyroid symptoms are still the same… Seeing different drs this week.

    Response:
Make sure that your practitioner is “thyroid trained” to receive the best help. Check my PRACTITIONERS list http://thyroidu.com/practitioners/ and get another opinion from a Thyroid Trained Practitioner who may have other answers and supplements for you.

Q: I’ve been doing the gluten free for 3 months.
    A: Yea! Keep going!

Q: Do you think with diet and vitamins/minerals alone you can cure yourself?
A: Yes, it’s diet, supplements and lifestyle changes related to stress management too. If we’re really stressed, we keep messing up our blood sugar, inner inflammation, adrenals, cortisol, etc. etc.

Q: What do you think about biogenetical hormones and desiccated thyroid ?
A: I’ll have to study these more to answer.

Q: It seems that the thyroid is doing all this stuff inside of me, very high cholesterol although i eat perfect, my sex drive is dead, skin thick and dry as leather… and wondering my options?
A: Is your high cholesterol the good or bad kind? My good kind is very high now due to eating more Omega-3’s. That’s a good thing.
The rest of the symptoms take time to change… and sadly, may never completely be “normal” again.

Keep doing the right stuff every day and keep your checklists of change to help you see the positive changes.

Is dis becz of Iodine deficiency?

I get gastric problems when i am tensed or sad…why is that is it related to tyhroid?

    • kim

      Dear Shreya,

I’m so sorry at your age that you are having this condition.

Please tell your family that it is not your fault that you are having a hard time learning, thinking, remembering and functioning. It’s part of the over 70 symptoms of a dysfunctional thyroid. Have them read my blog here and find out that you’re not alone and need help.

There is no permanent “cure” for a thyroid condition, but with the right diet, supplements and help from a thyroid trained practitioner, you can get “back to normal” in a few months.

I cannot say if your irregular periods will lead to infertility. That is not necessarily the case with a thyroid condition, but it does certainly mess up a woman’s hormones.

20% of health issues are hereditary, 80% are environmental, including the food you eat, stress and toxins.

Iodine deficiency is one reason for thyroid problems. But, that doesn’t mean that if you take iodine it will immediately help. It’s best to see a thyroid trained practitioner to check your iodine levels.

Exercise of anykind is helpful just to keep your body healthy and flexible and stress down.

Gastric problems when tense or sad is not necessarily related to thyroid, but a thyroid condition can cause some bloating and stomach problems. It might be more related to what you food allergies.

Why people around the world are diagnosed with thyroid problem is a combination of genes, poor diets, food allergies, toxins, GMO’d foods, and more.

My manual: I wish I could give it to you for free, but I have too many such requests for it weekly from around the world to do that.

I hope that you can afford to get it and start the diet soon. And, moreover, you need to find a thyroid trained practitioner. Go to my PRACTITIONERS tab on this site http://thyroidu.com/practitioners/ and find one close to you on the list. If you can’t find one close, contact #1 on the list, Dr. Jared Allomong, who is my practitioner. He can work w/ you by phone/email easily.

My best wishes for your best health Shreya,

      Kim

  • Denisse

I’m 13 years old and i have hypothyroidism and it’s hard for me to stay on my diet all the time and its also hard to find the food I need and the gluten free, non fat, low or no sugar at all and we go to this whole foods close to our house but they do also have all the things I need for my diet.. Do you think you can recommend stores that might be here in albuquerque?

    • kim

      Hi Denisse,

I’m so sorry that you have these issues at your age.

Here is a link to other health food stores in your area – http://www.yellowpages.com/albuquerque-nm/health-food-store

The best thing too is to not try to “play” with the food options too far outside of a very clean diet. It’s easy to eat a few foods with some of ingredients you noted and then that gets the inflammation fired up again and symptoms returns.

I’m proud of you for taking charge of your health now. Eating a thyroid diet is really the best way that if everyone ate would cure obesity and many other health problems and diseases. So, you are ahead of most everyone you know for your lifetime of health, Denisse!

My good thoughts for complete health are with you,
      Kim

Here’s something for dental health I’ve recently been looking into and I thought it’d be a great addition to your information about dental health and thyroid health…oil pulling. oilpulling.com has lots of information and if your read the testimonials, you’ll be encouraged and convinced I’m sure. It’s an ancient Ayurvdic method of oral and really, whole body care that has so many great effects. There are many testimonials that include comments from the writer’s dental hygenist/dentist about how the patients mouth changed.
