I saw this article in our local Longmont Times Call paper today. I look everywhere for good ideas.
NOTE ON SPINACH
This recipe has spinach – raw spinach is not good for us thyroid condition people.
However, you can still use spinach if you blanch (dump into rolling boiling water) for a minute or two which would be like steaming it, or just steam it until limp, knocking out most of the chemistry that is not good for us. Then, just put into a blender with the juiced liquid (as it will be pretty limp and may not run through a juicer well). Or, switch out spinach for the greenest fresh, greenest lettuce options you can find.
It makes a lot and you’ll need an extractor or other juicing machine to make it (to separate the pulp from the juice), but the nutrition is worth it. Should help anyone’s body in all good ways!
NOTE ON JUICING
I don’t recommend juicing often. It’s better for us to use a blender for “smoothies” to keep the pulp in, juicing takes it out. We need the pulp for fiber and nutrition. Plus, juicing, especially with fruits, leaves you with a glass of fruit-sugar, also not good for us.
The point here being, there are a lots of ways to get great nutrition every day. Explore many ways.
